When starting a Juniper vMX router you may get an error from the vMX.sh script that shows that the libvirt files could not be generated followed by “setlocale: No such file or directory” one or more times. The error looks like this:
Generate libvirt files............................[FAILED] setlocale: No such file or directory setlocale: No such file or directory setlocale: No such file or directory setlocale: No such file or directory setlocale: No such file or directory setlocale: No such file or directory
Ensure that both the hosts’s locale and your system’s locale is en_US.UTF-8. You can verify this by running env. The reason for this is currently the vmx.sh script does not support other locales at the time of writing (current for the release 18.1R1).
